A business trip brought me to beautiful Stockholm. From all Scandinavian capitals this is where you will get a “big city” vibe. There is definitely a buzz and summer is the time to be here. My trip was work related and that means two things for me, no time to full around and no time to meet friends… which reminds me that I soon have to travel back here.
Stockholm is a cute city, with an urban feeling. I usually stay at Hötorget area which is 10 min. walk from the city center (and the main shopping area), a couple metro stops away from Gamla Stan (the city’s old part) and a 30 minutes walk from Fotografiska (centre for contemporary photography ) where the company I am working for has their offices. If you are visiting Stockholm soon and you have a short time there note down the areas above and visit them!
While Swedes are known for Abba, IKEA, H&M, crime thrillers and the vikings Stockholm is known for it’s Museums and the outdoors. Ride a bike to go around the city.
And if you want to be a little bit more like a Swede do not forget to have a kanelbullar (cinammon bun) in the morning and a a lot of coffee… Swedes drink around 3 to 5 cups of coffee per day
In Hötorget a short walk from my hotel there is one of my hang out places, Urban Deli. I always go there for a quick dinner. My favourite dishes are the salmon salad and the Swedish classic: Toast Skagen. Whatever you choose this place is a guaranty and it has a great selection of tap beers and cocktails. On your way out, if you are a little bit romantic you can pick up some flowers! Until next time, Stockholm you have been amazing!
