A 3 day trip to Milan was a last minute call and what I needed to switch off from everything else. End of November in Oslo means darkness, snow and cold. Northern Italy on the other hand is a guarantee of plus degrees. Ok it was pouring 3 days in a row, however temperatures were above 10 degrees and the light Mediterranean skies reminded me that somewhere in this world sun is always shining behind the clouds.
Why Milan? Well because it just happened. A place I have been now plenty of times, a city I kind of know, tickets super affordable so why not?
I have done all the tourist staff in Milan the last 4 times I have been there. This time it was all about rediscovering the city, drinking 5 espressos per day eating my way to the city, enjoying long walks in great architecture and discovering the obvious, Milan is all about finesse, style, fashion and design. My interests were design, interior, architecture and food-(surprise!!!)
I did a little bit way too much of the latter. Stayed in Montapoleone area, next to the beautiful high end fashion district of Milan and 15 minutes walk to everywhere. What I remembered was why no one walks in the south, hills are hard to walk around the city. Cabs though are relatively cheap and they did the trick plenty of times.
Eat your way to Milan
- Nero 9 for the best steak in Milan
- Il Salumaio di Montenapoleone lunch, dinner and great surroundings, good food, fantastic outdoors sitting area
- Gusto 17 for the ice-cream
- Armani Hotel Milano for aperritivo, and if you do not know what aperitivo is time for a trip to Italy
Shopping
Well Milan is all about shopping and it is a little bit “on your face” if you know what I mean. Too many stores, too little time. Options options options that becomes a little bit overwhelming. However besides the high-end brands which I visited and left empty handed I ended up refilling on pyjamas from Oysho… ooops

Which hotel you stayed at? ❤️

Milano Manzoni. Apartment not a hotel. Really loved it. Italian apartment style with walking closet, beautiful living room and a double sink bathroom. I totally recommend it. And price wise you will get a lot for the price since Milan is such an expensive city when it comes to accommodation.
