According to wiki Brunch is:

“a combination of breakfast and lunch eaten usually during the late morning to early afternoon, generally served from 11am up to 3pm and regularly has some form of alcoholic drink (most usually champagne or a cocktail) served with it.”

Drinks up for Guy Beringer, an English writer, who proposed the idea for this mixed meal in his 1895 essay “Brunch: A Plea.” In it, Beringer defended those nursing their Sunday morning hangovers.

Dear Guy, you are our Guy and your idea rocks through the centuries

Back in October when we still used to live in Copenhagen I wrote the following:

The Brunch Place

Wulff & Konstali is a combination food shop, bakery, and cafe, in a quiet area of Amager and 10 minutes walk to Amager beach.

This place is open most hours of the day, from morning until 19:00.

They do brunch every day and they offer a variety of comfort food.

Due to space everything is sort of on a slant in here, but it’s lovely and quirky and comfortable. Gigantic windows let light stream in. On the very end you find plenty of goodies from House Doctor and why not if you feel like buying a poster or two they are selling them. They also have some shelves with delicacies, their tea and risotto are highly recommended.

For drinks, they offer coffee, tea, and green, yellow and red juice. Even though I love their juices this is not this type of day. I grab some cucumber water and I am on my way to order.

The coffee

Weather is grey and misty (surprise!). The lack of summer and autumn this year is getting into my head, like I guess most people, during this season. I need something warm and comforting. I order my double shot of coffee and I find a table.

While the waitress is serving my coffee I think:

“Nothing that a good coffee can’t fix!”.

Brunch time!

This place has mostly what I call comfort food. Nothing fancy and overcomplicated. Plenty of choices for everyone (gluten-free, vegan, vegetarian etc.), good prices and yummy food.

I need a good brunch! I can choose a combination of small dishes (5 or 7) to create my brunch and the choices sound delicious. I want to try everything but I go with 5 pieces since I know they are quite filling.

My brunch is on my table after 10 minutes. I am super surprised because food used to take ages at this place. Quality is the key here, nothing is rushed. Fresh and organic ingredients are combined to make a great result.

Their brunch always leaves me happy and pleased but not too heavy!

Before I leave I buy whole wheat bread and I ignore the brownie that is standing right next to it…

until next time….
