You had me at eggs Benedict and pancakes
Eggs Benedict is an American brunch dish that consists of two halves of an English muffin topped with a poached egg, bacon or ham, and hollandaise sauce. While Eggs Benny is one of New York classics and brunch must haves it has been a struggle to find a place in Oslo to indulge it. When I was leaving in the UK I would eat Eggs Benny usually before work as a quick breakfast treat in the pub around the corner but last time I indulged these beauties was in Amsterdam. Brunch culture has long way to go in Norway. And I get it I really do. People go skiing and hiking on Sundays, this is why they are “all” fit and skinny. But not me. Nop that’s not my Sundays. I just want to get those extra calories and socialize with friends when I am not lying half dead on the couch watching HBO.
When the suggestion came for brunch at Atlas-Amerikalinjen’s restaurant with a short comment “They have eggs Benny” I just jumped off the couch and made it to the city centre within an hour. The menu is simple and New York based. Pancakes with a European twist, Croque Monsieur, Caesar salad, Mimosas and so on. Friendly sitters and a cozy environment will compliment a Sunday or a weekday here, just remember I do not share food and I like good conversations.
