Good morning and happy Saturday!
I arrived in Stavanger last Saturday after a quite crazy week. I gotta admit that it felt great to ‘runaway’ for a few days.
I wasn’t sure about leaving in the first place, but I’m so happy I did.
I love exploring Norway, it is such a cute, cozy, stunning country.
Stavanger is known as Norway’s ‘Oil City’ for its importance in oil exploration in the North Sea since the 70s (Norway’s largest oil company, Statoil, is based here). But while much of the outskirts are modern and new you won’t find too many skyscrapers in the city center. On the contrary the beautiful wooden buildings are preserved here, many dating back to the 18th century. It’s all very pretty with highlights being the port-town style water front, old Stavanger and the lake side.
